Trail running

A climb that forgives nothing.

The trails of Stolovi, the Meljanica valley and the Ibar gorge — elevation, changing ground and terrain that punishes a badly judged pace.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

How long is the trail stage?

The distance and elevation are not officially confirmed yet. They will be published together with the elevation profile and a GPX file, with a date and a version marker.

What is the terrain like?

The trails of Stolovi, the Meljanica valley and the Ibar gorge: soft forest ground in the valley, an open ridge alternating between grass and rock, and sections where you use your hands as much as your legs. The elevation does not accumulate evenly but in surges.

Are poles allowed?

Equipment rules will form part of the official regulations. On terrain of this type poles are common — they help on the climb and on a long descent, and get in the way on technical sections where you need your hands.

Why is the run the first stage?

Because the launch is from the ridge of Stolovi. The race runs downhill: run to the ridge, then into the air, then onto the trails, then to the Ibar.
